Mt. Redoubt Erupting Again

Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) is reporting “a major explosive event” beginning at 9:24 AKDT is in progress on Mt. Redoubt volcano. The National Weather Service is reporting the ash cloud to be at least 65 Kft in height.

Mt. Redoubt began the latest in series of eruption on Sunday evening. According to scientists at AVO, Mt. Redoubt can expected to continue erupting off and on over the coming months.

Update 1: Mt. Reboubt erupted again on Friday morning, prompting the cancellation of many flights, according to the Anchorage Daily News. The newspaper has full coverage of the eruptions and a nice picture gallery here.
