NASA launches delayed STS-119 on schedule

Space Shuttle Discovery on mission STS-119 to the International Space Station successfully lifted off at 7:43pm EDT Sunday. Its primary mission will be to deliver the final solar array for the ISS.

Under a new study released by the Pacific Institute, rising sea-levels over the next century will “inevitably change the character” of the California coast. The study attempts to gauge the impacts of sea-level rise upon plants and animals, humans, and infrastructure, and finds that if no action is taken losses from flooding and erosion will approach $100bn.

ISS Crew evac’d to Soyuz escape capsule

According to NASASpaceFlight.com, mission controllers have ordered the crew of the International Space Station to evacuate to the Soyuz escape capsule to wait out a potential debris strike projected to occur at 9:39 PDT.

Sakurajima Volcano erupts
